Cubic Boron nitride, cBN, is a solely synthetic product and can therefore be tailored to provide exactly the right characteristics for any application. Perhaps for this reason, it has developed into a very wide range of products each designed for a specific application in ferrous grinding. The difficulty for any supplier is to be able to supply this wide range, requiring a constant programme of R&D involving grit evolution, bond development and field trials, together with a detailed knowledge of the grinding process. This is an area where the NDP team excel and, as a result, we believe that we can supply the widest range of cBN grit products in the market, the cBNMesh range.

cBNMesh is available from 50/60 to 325/400 mesh and selected products are available with nickel cladding up to 60% by weight. Additionally, the cBN abrasive can have a titanium “flash” coating to enhance the bonding of the nickel to the cBN.It is used in grinding wheels for a myriad of applications: high stock removal OD abrasive machining of cast irons and hardened steels, profile grinding of inconel, surface finishing of tool steels, fluting operations in the tool and cutter industry and sharpening of steel cutters.
